Calling the Police
Last night, as I was returning to the office, I stumbled across a group of four people fighting in the street.
I pulled over and strepped out of my car and saw four hispanics fighting in the 3600 block of North Interstate. Two of the three males were fighting, rolling on the roadway. I pulled out my cellphone and called 9-1-1. I gave the PDX dispatcher all the info she needed.Shortly afterward, the aggressor - in my opinion - walks up to me. I tell him to stop. He says that everything is fine. I tell him, yes, yes it is and inform him that I've called 9-1-1. He startes to freak and runs into the bushes just off the roadway where his two friends are standing in the shadows. I see the victim walking away north on Insterstate.
A few minutes after this, with three of the four people still on scene and only about 15 foot away from the roadway, two Portland Police cars roll up - having run hot to get there. I walk over to the lead car and tell the officer that three of the people involved are 'standing right there' as I point to the trio. I go on to say that the fourth, the victim, has walked away. After I tell this to the officer, he says thanks and then he and his cover officer drive down the road and turn onto Fremont Street where the two drive around Overlook Park. Once in the park the officers use their takedowns and spot lights to light up the park.... I just stood there and shook my head.
As the Portland officers were searching the park, the trio comes out of the treeline and walked away. I got back into my car and went to the office.
