What is there to say? I’m an ex-cop from Colorado. I also worked in Texas for both municipal and special jurisdictions. Thats the short of it.
The long of it? Where to start?
I was born in Pennsylvania to parents who were career Army. We lived in Washington, D.C., Seoul, Korea, Ft. Ord, California, Ft. Campbell, Kentucky, Berlin, Germany and finally Ft. Hood, Texas.
I graduated high school in 85, entered Marine Corps boot camp in 86 as a Marine Reservist and did my tech training at NAS Memphis, Tennessee where I studied electronics and avionics. I did my main tech schoolat MCAS Beaufort, South Carolina (TME-23) where I worked on the Westinghouse AN/AWG-10B(1) with the MOS of 6474. Then, in 88, I was assigned to my squadron (MALS-41) at NAS Dallas, Texas supporting VMFA-112 who were flying the McDonnell-Douglas F-4S Phantom II.
I was employed by my 1st police department in 89 after having made the deans list in college taking electronics… Yes, I dropped out of college to attend the academy.
I then went to work for a school district PD. I was there for almost 4 years. In ‘93, when my enlistment was up, I moved to Colorado, got married and was hired with the sheriffs office. I was divorced in 2001 after having 3 lovely daughters with my wife. In 2002 I married again, had another daughter and step-daughter, retired from the SO in 2005 and moved to Oregon.
Oh, I forgot to mention, I’ve done patrol, investigations and corrections durring my 15 years as a cop. I’ve been an FTI/FTO and CST. I was also a certified instructor.
And, as a buddy always asked me, no I’ve never shot anyone.
Was that long enough? I didnt think so.
My first exposure to a computer was in my middle school science class. The teacher had an Apple ][+ that we were allowed to “Work With”. In 1983 I got a Commodore VIC-20, followed by a Commodore 64. I thought I was in heaven…
In the late 80’s my father and I would build our own PC’s. My first was an 8088 followed by an 80286.. that was the shit… 16MHZ of PURE POWER!!!
My current home PC runs Windows XP Media Center 2005 and Ubuntu Linux 6.06. I think I have run every version of Windows (except Bob, but to include server OS’s). I’ve even run OS/2 Warp and GEM.
Speeking of GEM… does anyone remember AOL 1.5 for GEM? I do. That was the 1st true Online Service that I used. I remember looking at the floppy and seeing the AOL logo and that it was for GEM, but would run under Windows 3.0.
With Windows releasing Vista I find that I dontneed it… sure I’d like to play with it… but I dont need it. Okay, okay… I was RIGHT. I didnt NEED it… but I wanted it. So I have it. I installed Windows Vista Ultimate.
Once up and running, I’ll also have a copy of Ubuntu Fiesty Fawn (7.04) persistently bootable from a USB Flash Drive.
I cant leave out the obligatory Blog Buttons… so here they are. I think this wells a bit about me as well.
