This May has been a bad month. So far there have been four officers killed. Since I last posted the names of the fallen there have been 6 officers down. Of those, only two where killed in automobile accidents the rest where shot while performing their duties to the communities they serve.

You may or may not know that police officers do not get their authority from the badge they pin on their shirt, the uniform they wear or the car they drive. The do not get the authority from the person signing their pay check. They get their authority solely from the people they serve. It is those people that we, as a profession, have laid down our lives, lost friends and family and, if we do survive the day, get up to do it all again tomorrow.
